Sage Hill Inn & Spa sits on 88 acres in the Texas Hill Country near Austin. We’re a secluded inn and spa where garden-to-table dining, Hill Country views, and genuine quiet make for a distinctive romantic getaway in Texas.

Sage Hill is about 30 minutes from Austin but still feels remote. Our property is surrounded by 2,500 acres of protected land, with hiking trails, a full-service spa, an expanded continental breakfast, and a daily food and beverage credit allowing guests to choose their own dining experience.

True Privacy

Surrounded by 2,500 acres of protected land, the property doesn’t share a parking lot or fence line with neighboring development. The 88 acres include hiking trails, an overlook 80 feet above Onion Creek, and the kind of night sky that’s rare this close to a major city.

Full-Service Spa

The Garden Spa offers massage, facials, and body treatments without leaving the hotel. Couples treatments are available, and spa packages can be added to any stay.

Private Hot Tubs

Sage Hill is one of few romantic getaways in Texas with private hot tubs. Select cottages and casitas also include private spas, and many feature private decks looking out over the Hill Country, a good spot to catch the sunset and stargaze away from Austin’s light pollution.

Originally created by John & Janie Orr in 1995 as a 12-room destination inn and restaurant on the old Kuykendall Ranch, the property has undergone a large renovation to create an ideal setting. Improvements include a huge pool deck, 14-person hot tub, full-service spa, large outdoor fire pits, fire places, additional private lodging units, pickleball courts and pavilion, and multiple room remodels. Our luxury inn and spa near Austin, TX offers sweeping views of Hill Country with spectacular sunsets, and because the night sky is unimpaired by city lights, amazing views of the stars as well.

We’re Proud to Be Part of the Preservation

In the late 90s, the city performed a test by putting dye into holes in the bottom of Onion Creek, and it came up in the famed Barton Springs three days later. This prompted the city to purchase and protect 2,000 acres directly across from the inn to protect the watershed and created the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District, which is one of the reasons we are so serious about protecting the water at the inn.

 

We have low flow showers and toilets, rainwater capture for over 20,000 gallons, use grey water from laundry for the grounds, and have all of our towels and linens laundered off-site. Finally, the city recently purchased the 367 acre ranch just south of us to add more land to the protection zone. So our 88 acres is surrounded by over 2,500 acres of protected space.

Outdoor Pool

Our Austin resort’s pool and spa area is partially shaded by native oaks and is a great place to relax and take in the beauty of the Hill Country or laze the day away sunbathing, floating, or just relaxing with a book.

Hiking

The Sage Hill Inn & Spa offers over 5 miles of hiking trails, including the “overlook” which sits atop a cliff 80 feet above Onion Creek. The land surrounding our inn is rich with wildlife including deer, black buck antelope, wild turkey, foxes, raccoons and abundant birdlife.

Games & Activities

Our Pickleball Pavilion has four lighted courts and nearly 3,000 square feet of covered seating — a great spot whether you’re competitive or just learning. Beyond pickleball, there’s bocce, horseshoes, cornhole, and washers in the game area, plus a large outdoor fire pit that tends to be where everyone ends up at the end of the night.
